Random Art Studio is an artist-run art studio, online shop, and small public gallery, coming soon in Crofton on Vancouver Island. It is owner-operated by artist and curator Hunter Lofgren. The public site, catalogue, kiosk, and a measured 3D gallery are being built ahead of opening.

Gallery as Medium

Random Art Studio treats the gallery itself as a medium: not only a room that holds work, but a system that frames how work is made, catalogued, and shown. The studio, the online shop, and the small gallery are three faces of one artist-run practice.

The program is deliberately small and regional - a place for experimental, regional, and local art. Alongside the founder's own work, a curated guest artist program will grow the directory slowly, by invitation and conversation rather than open call.

Everything you see here is pre-opening. Works are catalogued before sales open, prints and merch are shown as previews, and custom production is in planning. Nothing is purchasable yet.

Hunter Lofgren is an avant-garde artist and the owner-operator and curator of Random Art Studio. His practice - Experimental Explorative Expressionism - treats each work as a probe into an unstable world rather than a finished statement.

His most representative work is NASA: a sprawling, self-built mythology in which a "stability protocol" called NASA threads bridges between countless chaotic realities (the Ether) to hold them together - only to become, over time, one of the very forces of chaos it was built to contain. It is a body of work about systems that try to impose order and the disorder they create in the process: extraction, control, and the long slide back into chaos.

Random Art Studio is the public face of that practice: a studio, an online shop, and a small gallery for experimental, regional, and local art.

The guest artist directory grows through a curated program by invitation and conversation - not an open call. You can register interest for future conversations, but interest is not acceptance, wall rental, or an agreement.

Privacy

What we collect: the name, email, and message contents you send us through the contact, guest-artist interest, custom-production, and opening-updates forms. Why: to read and reply to your inquiry, and — only if you opt into the updates list — to send one opening announcement. Nothing is sold or shared.

Where it is stored: a private database hosted by Supabase, with email delivery handled by Resend. Access is restricted to the studio. Retention: kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. To request deletion or correction of your data, email hunter@randomartstudio.xyz.

This site is under construction. Public claims are pre-opening safe.
